Curriculum
SEMESTER 1: FOUNDATIONS IN COMMUNICATION DESIGN
1. Revisiting Core Design Principles
Explore the timeless fundamentals of design theory, colour, composition, and typography with a digital-first approach. Students learn how these principles apply to responsive web design, digital media, and user-centric interfaces.
2. Semiotics
Understand the science of signs and symbols to craft compelling visual narratives. This module delves into iconic, symbolic, indexical, metaphorical, and paradoxical imagery, incorporating AI tools to analyse and predict visual trends.
3. Copywriting
Master the art of persuasive writing that connects emotionally with audiences. Students will explore digital-specific formats, such as MICROCOPY, SEO content, and social media storytelling, to enhance user engagement.
4. History of Communication Design
Gain insights into design movements and their evolution into modern visual communication. Analyse how historical trends inform today’s branding, advertising, and digital aesthetics through case studies.
5. Research Methods in Design
Learn qualitative and quantitative research techniques tailored to digital platforms. This includes user journey mapping, design ethnography, and an introduction to data visualization for evidence-based decision-making.
6. Digital Tools & Techniques
Develop proficiency in essential software like Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and Blender. Students also gain an introduction to motion graphics and 3D design, laying a foundation for more advanced digital creation.
SEMESTER 2: EXPANDING DESIGN PERSPECTIVES
1. Communication Strategy and Brand Building
Explore storytelling as a tool for brand identity design. Students learn to build cohesive brand ecosystems across digital platforms, from social media to websites.
2. Cognitive Psychology in Communication Design
Understand the principles of cognitive psychology to inform design decisions. Topics include visual perception, attention span management, and how these concepts shape user interaction in digital environments.
3. Interactive & UX Design
Dive into designing intuitive user experiences. This module covers wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and designing for interactivity across various digital platforms.
4. Global Design Trends and Ethics
Examine sustainable design practices and ethical challenges in the digital age. This includes addressing AI-generated content, inclusive design, and cultural considerations in a globalized world.
5. Elective Workshops
Choose from specialized topics such as AR/VR design, creative coding, advertising strategies, and art direction. These workshops provide hands-on experience with emerging technologies and interdisciplinary approaches.
SEMESTER 3: ADVANCED COMMUNICATION DESIGN STRATEGIES
Advanced Narrative Techniques in Media
Learn to craft immersive stories for multi-platform narratives, including web, social media, and virtual environments. This includes leveraging AI tools for content generation and audience personalization.
2. Advertising and Communication Strategies
Master consumer insight mining, campaign planning, and crafting creative strategies. This module emphasizes data-driven advertising for digital-first brands.
3. Design for Social Change
Focus on applying design thinking to create impactful solutions for social, environmental, and cultural challenges. Students will choose a social challenge of their choice after studying existing virtual campaigns and digital activism.
4. Collaborative Project
Engage in real-world, interdisciplinary group projects with industry partners. This includes approaching the industry professionals, getting a brief from them on the project they are willing to share, working on finding relevant design solutions in a step-by-step manner by taking inputs from the industry professionals at every step and creating the final prototype.

6. Industry internship
Gain hands-on experience in a design studio, tech company, or advertising agency for students from academic backgrounds and internship in academic institutes for students from industry backgrounds. Opportunities include remote internships with global organisations to expand professional networks.
SEMESTER 4: MASTERY & THESIS PROJECT
1. Design Entrepreneurship
Learn the essentials of starting and scaling a design business. Topics include intellectual property, funding strategies, and digital branding in emerging fields like Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
2. Design Ethics and Future Trends
Explore topics such as AI ethics, blockchain applications, and the metaverse in design. This module prepares students for leadership roles in emerging digital ecosystems.
3. Capstone Project
Undertake a thesis-driven or project-based capstone addressing cutting-edge challenges in communication design. Students will present their work in public exhibitions or online galleries like Behance.
4. Portfolio Development & Industry Preparation
Create a professional-grade portfolio. This includes advanced presentation techniques, mock interviews, and networking strategies tailored to impress the relevant design industry professionals.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must preferably hold a degree in design or a related field, such as Architecture, Fine Arts, Applied Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Interior Design, or Visual Communication, from a recognised institution.
- A minimum score of 50% is required in the qualifying examination.
